SRC-2019-0010 : Foxit Reader SDK ActiveX URI Parsing Stack Based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
- Foxit Reader SDK ActiveX Std
- Foxit Reader SDK ActiveX Pro
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Foxit Reader SDK ActiveX Pro. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of URI strings. When parsing a PDF file, the process does not properly validate the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of the current process.
Foxit has issued an update to correct these vulnerabilities. More details can be found at:
- 2018-11-20 - Vulnerability reported to Foxit
